I’ve never experienced a “pay it forward” moment before that night. Plenty of people have helped me and I help others, but I’ve never had someone pick up the ticket at a restaurant and tell us our bill was already covered, then instruct us to pay it forward.
I’m asking myself and challenge you to ask yourself the same question: what am I getting right? What am I spot on about? Am I doing it in [genuine] love?
The church in Ephesus was surrounded by wickedness, yet pursued holiness. But God still had something against them; they had forgotten and left their first love. It was almost as if they were cheating on God with religious holiness. After all, what is holiness without love?
