Dying for Their Faith

I was going to write something else today, but my heart is heavy for all that is going on in Iraq. Little children put to death for the sake of convincing adults to recant their faith in Jesus. Houses of Christians marked so no return home is possible without death.

I’ve heard bits and pieces online, then we go on with our life promoting this and that. I’m guilty. We laugh at the memes. We ask people to buy our books. We chatter about favorite sports teams. We hashtag our life like nothing is going on.

The fact is, this has been going on a long time. In other countries, by different means, by other haters of God. But with social media what it is, news travels to our living room within minutes of it happening. Our lives our invaded with fact and we have to make a decision.

You see, #this is not enough. It is too easy to share it then forget it. A half-hearted nod toward heaven and we move on.

So what will it be?

RIGHT NOW…in THIS moment we need to forget ourselves and pay attention to what is happening across the world.

What if…
….for more than a moment, more than a hashtag, we each stepped
away from our keyboards and social media, took a day off-or
even part of a day- from our jobs, our mundane tasks and got on
    our knees and prayed!?

          What if….
…we challenged all our friends and followers on social media
             to do the same.

             WHAT IF…..
…we called our representatives in government and
made our concerns known. That something needs to
be done to aid in the ceasing of this action.

                   WHAT IF…..
….we found an organization we trust to donate to for
relief efforts for those fleeing from this atrocity?

I wonder what would happen?

In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. Hebrews 12:4 NIV

than it is only a hashtag! [Click to Tweet]
