Hobbies

Welcome to my blog. I am currently participating in the A to Z challenge.
Blogging my way through the alphabet one letter at a time.
For my theme I have chosen to give you a peek inside the journal of Karen,
the main character of my soon to be released novel, Bruised Reed

From Karen’s journal….

Ate at our favorite Chinese place tonight. Without Barry. Again. Wasn’t even here when I got home. I grabbed several fortune cookies. Maybe one of them will promise better days ahead with Barry.

Okay, first fortune. Renew an old hobby. Hobby? It might get my mind off of my marriage, so I might as well give it a try.

A week later…

Hobby #1- I used to ride my bike a lot, so asked a neighbor if I could borrow theirs for the day. Glad I wore the helmet. Different perspective to see the City from atop a bicycle. Its dangerous business riding a bike in this traffic. No wonder they pull some of the stunts they do.
Note to self: Take a bike safety course before riding in Manhattan traffic again.

And another week later…

Hobby #2- I used to take pictures all the time, so I borrowed Megan’s camera for the day. It was fun. Downloaded the shots to the computer. But I gave the camera back and don’t plan on buying one anytime soon. There are plenty of great photographers in this world and I am not one of them. The pics I take with my phone are fine.

Note to self: I don’t have the time or energy for a hobby. Not with Barry and his shenanigans.

  1. Hobbies? Hmmm…now that the kids are gone, I've rediscovered my love of reading just for the fun of it. And, then there's writing, but then you knew that about me. 🙂

I love reading Karen's diary and am excited to get my hands on the whole book.

  2. Merrie, So glad you're enjoying the diary. And thanks for stopping by 🙂 I've been enjoying your posts on moving as well.

I think sometimes as mothers we loose our hobbies for a season. It's fun to rediscover them- and find new ones!
