God is our Healer

But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness
will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and
frolic like well-fed calves. Malachi 4:2
The x-rays and the doctors say arthritis in my neck. They’ve already said arthritis in my knees. But God is my healer and this year, I am earnestly seeking him for healing of my joint issues. Nothing is impossible for God.
In Matthew 9:20-22 we read the story about the woman who had been bleeding for 12 years. When Jesus passed through the area, “She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” Immediately upon touching his cloak, she was healed.
As I read this story, a few things stood out about this woman and her desire to be healed by Jesus.
She believed that HE was able to heal.

In passionate pursuit of her objective, she went where she was not wanted. In Jewish culture, a woman having her cycle was considered unclean. As was anyone who touched her. The people crowding around Jesus didn’t want to be unclean. They wouldn’t have wanted to be near her.
She was intentional about her pursuit of Jesus. She pushed her way through the crowd. With determination she moved past the obstacles keeping her from the one who could heal her. You know she was tired after being afflicted for 12 years. Yet she didn’t take the easy path.
I want to be like her. Believing that HE can heal, moving past obstacles that keep me from Jesus even if it means going to some uncomfortable lengths (like asking people to pray for me over and over and over). I don’t want to be lackadaisical about this pursuit!

But even if He does not heal my joints in this life, I will still praise Him (Daniel 3:16-18). There have been times in my life when He has said yes to healing and others He has said no to. I have seen others healed. Or not. His ways are above mine and I don’t always understand the why behind the nos. But I will trust Him.

What about you? Is there an area in your life (physical, spiritual, mental, or emotional) that needs healing? Will you press through the crowds with me to touch the hem of Jesus’ cloak?

Lord, as we push in closer to you, arise and heal those in need of healing. Physically, spiritually, emotionally or mentally. We press in and trust You with the outcome. Thank you, Jesus.
