Paid to be Christ-Like

I went to a meeting of other like-minded individuals for a fairly long term project. All participants are required to sign a commitment form and in order to ensure that everyone (of some type of Christian persuasion) follows the rules of conduct (basic Christian conduct and common courtesy), we are all required to make a deposit. If we live up to this commitment, we get our money back.

So, a group of Christians are having to put their money on the line to hold themselves to a set of standards that their very faith asks them to walk out already.

I understand the position of this group’s leadership, but I think it’s sad that it’s necessary. I think it saddens God.
Is your yes, yes? Do you walk by the spirit even when your flesh demands attention? Does someone have to twist your arm to live up to your faith’s guidelines found in scripture? Are you so concerned with your own way and rights that you can’t give a little for the next person? Are you more important than everyone else in the room?
Father God, forgive us. Help us look into our hearts and bring them in line with your word and your will. Change us. Give us hearts willing to put someone else above ourselves. Help us to be a witness that draw people to you, not send them running. Lord, have mercy and give us grace.
