During 50 plus years of marriage, my mother modeled this simple guideline, giving her boundaries as to what words she spoke with my dad.
Words will either bring peace or sow discord in our home. Different opinions, habits and personalities can quickly turn the honeymoon sour as a couple tries to negotiate the waters of communication. Consumed with who was right and what is fair, selfishness will drive away the desire for peace.
Building a godly home is reason to pray before you speak, bite your tongue when you would much rather have your say, and use wisdom in your words. In the next few weeks, join me as I look at eight ways to build up your marriage through communication.
